In this section more controversial material will be covered. To many "old school" pipers much of the content here will be a bit hard to palette.
I make no apologies for covering material pertaining to the deviance from the pipe scale (sorry Seamus), namely altered notes such as "natural C", flattened F fingering, slides and other similarly "weird" techniques. Folk music is constantly evolving and learners should not be put off by "stick in the mud" exponents who refer to "kitchen piping " as "nicky didums" and other derogatory terms.
A word of caution. You have to learn the rules in order to break them. There is no shortcut for learning accurate technique.
